Tequila Ocho Anejo 2008

This tequila is a pale yellow. Smells of light citrus, honey, and generally sweet. On tasting it, we picked up a trace of caramel and a generally tequila taste that we really like. It’s definitely a complex tequila with a long finish. Not for the faint of heart though, as it has a medium to high heat. Ocho claims that their single estate tequilas prove terroir exists in tequila.
From their official site:
The 2008 anejo is our first anejo and its agaves were harvested from our El Vergel estate (The Orchard) that sits about 2,000 meters above sea level. It was so named for its humidity and fertile soil. The El Vergel Anejo has a light clear brilliance.  On the nose we detect wood with dried fruits and powdered sugar along with hints of cinnamon, orange peel, plum and caramel. On the palate, this anejo is thick and smooth. It initially opens up to cinammon, brown sugar, apricots and toasted almonds. In the middle comes some plum, lavender and black olives and this complex tequila finishes with coffee and cacao accents
